Improve timetable results

Last updated: Jun 30, 2025

My timetable doesn’t look right — how can I improve it?

If your timetable results are not satisfactory, the first thing you should do is read the timetable report.
The report highlights all constraint violations and provides guidance on how to fix them.

Example:

Let’s say class 5A has three consecutive Math lessons on Monday. That doesn’t seem ideal.
You check the report but don't see any "Too many lessons per day" constraint listed as broken — this is the problem.

In this case, the rule wasn't active.
Go to Timetable Rules, enable the relevant constraint, and regenerate the timetable.

Key takeaway

Always read the timetable report.
If a rule is not listed in the report as broken, it most likely wasn’t configured or activated.

The report shows a broken constraint, but regeneration doesn't solve it

Many broken constraints in the report include a recommendation.
Make sure to follow that advice and adjust your data or rules accordingly.

Common ways to improve timetable quality

  1. Increase generation time
If 2 minutes didn’t yield a good result, try 3 or even 5 minutes. Longer generation times often produce better schedules.
  2. Review teacher and class availability
In our experience, incorrect or overly restrictive availability settings are the most common cause of poor results.
  3. Check your data setup
Carefully review this help section to ensure everything is configured correctly.
  4. Contact support
