Teacher unavailable periods
Use unavailability constraints to define when a teacher can't (or prefers not to) be scheduled for lessons.
Go to Teachers and click Edit for the teacher you want to update. You'll find the unavailability table at the bottom of their profile page.
Constraint types
- Block (Strict) (Red): We won't schedule any lessons in these slots. Use this for absolute limits, like part-time schedules or fixed days off.
- Avoid (Flexible) (Yellow): We'll try our best to keep these slots free, but we might use them if it's the only way to make the timetable work. This is perfect for personal preferences.
How to set it up
- Choose your tool: Block (Strict) or Avoid (Flexible).
- Click individual cells, or click and drag to mark several slots at once.
- Use the day or time labels to mark entire rows or columns in one go.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
If you need to remove a marker, just click the cell again with the same tool active, or use Reset all to clear the whole table.
Tips for better results
We suggest minimizing the use of strict blocks to keep your timetable flexible and solvable. You'll see a notification if you block more than 50% of a teacher's available slots.
